Eli Drinkwitz feels good about his Missouri Tigers’ big Week 1 35-10 win over South Dakota on Thursday. The game helped answer a few questions with the exception of the quarterback competition between Brady Cook and Sam Horn.

After the game, Drinkwitz talked about the quarterback play and the competition moving forward in his postgame press conference:

“I just stepped off the football field, so I don’t have any plans for next week. I’ve kind of told everybody that I’ve got no preconceived ideas going into it and that I’m going to let the plays speak for themselves. We’ll go back and evaluate the tape. Obviously the blank assessment is that would be that Brady played a more consistent first half. Sam’s interception, the ball bounces off the receiver’s chest and bounces off in the air. Maybe it bounces off behind him, it could have been a better throw. I mean, you can’t tip the ball up there in that situation, it makes it a little bit worse. We’ll go back and evaluate the tape, I’m not going to make a rush judgment there. I did think Brady was very efficient and Sam had his moments too, he had a nice touchdown drive at the end of the game and converted a big third and long with that little screen pass to Luther, good call by Kirby.”
