Eli Drinkwitz praises Kentucky, says it’s too soon to make comparison between Wildcats and Tigers
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz wants to tamp down expectations after the Tigers’ victory Saturday over Central Michigan.
Although Mizzou had a solid performance against the Chippewas Saturday, he wants people to tap the brakes when it comes to comparing his program to the Kentucky Wildcats, the Tigers’ next opponent.
According to Power Mizzou, Drinkwitz said making a comparison between the 2 programs right now is a little bit early because Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops has been at Kentucky and recruiting for 10 years. He also said this weekend’s game will test to see how much Tigers have developed:
Drinkwitz says making a comparison between programs at #Mizzou and Kentucky right now is a little bit early because Mark Stoops has been at UK and recruiting for ten years. Calls it a test to see how much Tigers have developed, not comparing programs

Stoops’ record in his 10 years at Kentucky is 50-50.
Drinkwitz record as the second-year head coach with the Tigers is just 6-5. However, the nation took notice when the Tigers knocked off LSU last season, marking Drinkwitz’s first major victory as head coach of the program.
Drinkwitz also took time to point out how good Kentucky’s offense looked against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday:
Drinkwitz says the only surprise to him is how quickly Kentucky appears to have picked up its new offense. “They’re humming on all cylinders right now."

The Tigers can take another huge step forward this weekend if they can knock off the Wildcats again after beating them 20-10 last year.
