Eli Drinkwitz praises long list of standouts from Mizzou’s 2nd scrimmage of fall camp
Eli Drinkwitz had his list ready, and he wasn’t shy about sharing it.
The Mizzou head coach met with reporters after the Tigers’ 2nd scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday, and that list of his contained the players from both sides of the ball who shined. On defense, Drinkwitz hailed defensive end Deaden Hopkins, linebacker Khalil Jacobs and safety Mose Phillips III. On offense, it was a trio of wide receivers who got the shout out from Drinkwitz, who praised Donovan Olugbode, Marquis Johnson and Joshua Manning for their play on the outside.
Drinkwitz pointed specifically to Hopkins, who he said was creating havoc in the Mizzou backfield for most of the scrimmage.

“Khalil (Jacobs), I thought in the backfield did some really good stuff. Mose Phillips had some big-time hits. I thought he really popped for us,” said Eli Drinkwitz.
Then he shifted his praise to the other side of the ball.
“I thought (on offense) that Donovan Olugbode … Marquis (Johnson) with the 1-handed touchdown grab, I thought that was pretty sporty, and Joshua Manning in that 2-minute drive. I thought there were a lot of guys. The big thing offensively is being consistent. We got to narrow it down to who’s in and get some consistency there. It probably starts more on the offensive line for us,” explained Drinkwitz.

Saturday was another step forward for Mizzou during fall camp, as the Tigers continue getting ready for their season opener on Aug. 28 at home against Central Arkansas.
