Eli Drinkwitz gushed about Georgia’s offensive adjustments without Brock Bowers at Tuesday’s presser.
Bowers was a big part of the offense before going down with an ankle injury. Drinkwitz talked about how elite Bowers is and couldn’t recall the last time a player took over a game the way the Georgia tight end did against Auburn.
“Certainly, when you watch the games in order from the first of the season to now, you see just how elite Brock Bowers is,” said Drinkwitz. “I don’t that I’ve ever seen a tight end single-handedly take over a game like he did against Auburn and was extremely impressive. He’s such a security blanket that they can on 2nd and 10 throw a quick screen out there, he’s going to get 8 or 9.”
Drinkwitz explained who stepped up for Georgia without Bowers in the lineup. Ladd McConkey and Dominic Lovett stood out to Drinkwitz. He also mentioned Rara Thomas and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.
“I think without him obviously Ladd McConkey stepped up. I think Dominic Lovett ended up being their leading receiver in the game, not necessarily from a yardage standpoint but from a catch standpoint,” said Drinkwitz. “But they certainly have a lot of weapons, whether you’re talking about Ladd or Rara Thomas, Rosemy-Jacksaint, Dominic Lovett.”
The thing about the Georgia offense is that there is no shortage of playmakers. Running the football and solid quarterback play stands out about the offense to Drinkwitz.
“They’ve got a lot of different players who can catch the ball and create opportunities with the ball in their hands,” said Drinkwitz. “They’re not lacking in weapons. I still think when you watch the game, the thing that stands out to me is their ability to consistently run the football, and their ability for their quarterback to make solid sound decisions.”
