Eli Drinkwitz shares opinion on skipping class for season opener versus Louisiana Tech

Why hold classes the day after the beginning of football season?

Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz sounded off on the notion Monday afternoon ahead of the Tigers’ season opener against Louisiana Tech Thursday.

“These students up front just asked me about class on Friday,” Drinkwitz said. “I say skip it. It’s early in the year. You can overcome an early deficit.”

Missouri is looking to take a giant step forward in 2022 after finishing in the middle of the SEC East in 2021, just in front of Vanderbilt, Florida and South Carolina.

But outdoing last season’s 6-7 record will be tough in the SEC, regardless of a tame out of conference schedule. The Tigers return a lot of starters from last season’s abysmal defense, one that gave up 33.8 points per game, second to last in the SEC just in front of Vanderbilt.

The more students hyped up ready for gameday to support, the better. Nobody wants to go to an 8 am class after a night game at Memorial Stadium. Do you agree with Coach Drinkwitz?
