Eli Manning has been worth the follow on Twitter since joining a few months ago. The normally mild-mannered quarterback and 2-time Super Bowl champion has not been afraid to poke fun at himself in the same fashion as his older brother.
We saw a little of that on Sunday, the day after Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral threw for 6 touchdowns in a rout of Vanderbilt. The 6 touchdowns tied an all-time single-game mark for a Rebels quarterback, originally set by Manning.
“Congrats Matt. I needed 7 overtimes to get my 6 passes,” he tweeted on Sunday morning.
The game he is referring to is a wild 58-56 Ole Miss win over Arkansas in 2001. Amazingly, the score was tied at 17 in regulation, with Manning throwing 5 of his 6 touchdowns in the extra sessions.
All in all, it looks like Corral has a fan in one of the best quarterbacks to wear an Ole Miss uniform (besides Eli’s father, Archie, of course).
Congrats Matt. I needed 7 overtime’s to get my 6 TD passes. https://t.co/7iVa3roUo1
