A change of scenery could soon be in the works for Eric Swinney.
The rising senior running back has never found the great success in Oxford that many projected for him coming out of high school, mostly due to unfortunate injuries, and now he is exploring his options for his final collegiate season by entering the NCAA’s transfer portal.
News of Swinney entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal was first reported by Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network. Keep in mind that entering the transfer portal does not officially signal a transfer, but it does start the process for an eventual departure.
In his three seasons as a Rebel, Swinney has appeared in 16 games and rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns. He came to Ole Miss rated as a four-star recruit out of Georgia and rated as the nation’s No. 121 overall prospect in the 2015 recruiting cycle. Last season, he had only 14 rushing attempts.
With the emergence of Scottie Phillips and Isaiah Woullard, Swinney is currently looking up at two promising running backs on the Ole Miss roster, which makes sense that he would explore his options to leave the program for his final season in college.
