The Florida Gators are embarking on a new era in 2026. Out is Billy Napier. In is new head coach Jon Sumrall.
Sumrall brings in a new coaching staff and an impressive transfer portal haul. A spring QB battle seemingly favors Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo, who worked with new OC Buster Faulkner during their time with the Yellow Jackets.
But ESPN’s Harry Lyles Jr. is targeting a different player as the main player to watch this spring in Gainesville. In this article, Lyles explains why WR Eric Singleton Jr. is the key to the offense after landing at Florida following stops at Georgia Tech and Auburn:
Player to watch:ย WRย Eric Singleton Jr. Singleton transfers from Auburn, but has some crossover with Philo and Faulkner from Georgia Tech. He’s a talented receiver who had a bit of a down year last season after a monster freshman season in 2023 that carried over into 2024 before his transfer to Auburn. He should be a main target for the Gators heading into 2026.
Singleton saw his numbers decrease across the board in 2025 in a stagnant Auburn offense. Now that he’s reuniting with Faulkner, we’ll see if he can get back to the player he was during his time in Atlanta.
