ESPN CFB insider Heather Dinich says an SEC team could be hurt by canceled games

If there’s one team in the College Football Playoff hunt that would be more affected by canceled games, it’s probably No. 5 Texas A&M (5-1).
Texas A&M’s game against Tennessee this weekend has been postponed to Dec. 12 due to COVID-19.
During a Friday appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” ESPN college football insider Heather Dinich noted that Texas A&M will have difficulty cracking the College Football Playoff without a full slate of games.
“They need every game to prove to the committee they are a top-four team because they’re probably not going to have the SEC Championship game to do it,” Dinich said.
Texas A&M’s lone loss this season is against No. 1 Alabama. Texas A&M is coming off a convincing 48-3 blowout at South Carolina. The other games remaining for Texas A&M are vs. Ole Miss, vs. LSU, and at Auburn.
Even if Alabama lost one of its last three contests and Texas A&M ran the table with four consecutive wins, the Crimson Tide would be the West’s representative because of the head-to-head advantage.
With Texas A&M on the outside looking on for the CFP, Aggies fans are understandably crossing their fingers that every game will be played the rest of the season.
