Last week, ESPN College GameDay senior producer Lee Fitting announced that more than likely, the fan-favorite college football show wouldn’t visit an SEC school until early October.

Fitting made an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show this afternoon and he was asked about the show traveling to an SEC school later this season. October 4 was the first date with the most intriguing SEC match-ups, featuring LSU visiting Auburn and Alabama at Ole Miss.

Fitting announced that as long as both Alabama and Ole Miss remained undefeated, College GameDay will be going to Ole Miss and The Grove for the Rebels’ Oct. 4 matchup against the Crimson Tide. This will be College GameDay’s first-ever time in Oxford, Mississippi.

Ahead on the schedule, Ole Miss faces Vanderbilt on the road this weekend and will then play two home games against UL Lafayette and Memphis before facing off against Alabama.

As for the Crimson Tide, they’ll have two cupcakes in the next two weeks, facing Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss. The real test for Alabama will come on Sept. 20 when the Florida Gators come to Tuscaloosa. Alabama will be favored in that game, but it’ll certainly be their toughest game to date.

If things play out as expected, however, ESPN College GameDay will be in Oxford, Miss. on Oct. 4 for a potential top-10 showdown.
