ESPN experts update College Football Playoff projections after Week 4

ESPN’s college football experts have updated their top 12 College Football Playoff picks following an eventful week 4.

With top-ranked Ohio State among 4 Top-10 teams idle in Week 4, there were only 3 matchups involving Top 25 teams. No. 19 Indiana destroyed No. 9 Illinois 63-10, No. 11 Oklahoma upended No. 22 Auburn 24-17 and No. 17 Texas Tech thrashed No. 16 Utah.

Before we get into the new picks, let’s review the new 12-team format. Unlike last year, when the 4 highest-ranked conference champions received a first-round bye, this year, the teams ranked No. 1-4 will also be seeded No. 1-4 and will receive a first-round bye. Similar to last season, the five highest-ranked conference champions will receive automatic bids, and the seven highest-ranked remaining teams will round out the 12-team field.
