ESPN FPI rankings have been updated ahead of the start of the 2025 college football season.
Let’s just say the ESPN Football Power Index has made some enemies with these latest updates, particularly in the ACC. SMU coach Rhett Lashlee strongly called out the FPI on social media, as did noted SEC hater Danny Kanell:
But the rankings are the rankings, and there’s nothing to be done about them at this point. Week 0 kicks off next Saturday, August 23, with Week 1 beginning on Thursday, August 28.
So where does every SEC football team stand in this controversial FPI update? Let’s take a look below:
- No. 1 — Texas
- No. 2 — Georgia
- No. 3 — Alabama
- No. 8 — Tennessee
- No. 9 — Texas A&M
- No. 10 — Ole Miss
- No. 11 — South Carolina
- No. 12 — LSU
- No. 13 — Florida
- No. 20 — Oklahoma
- No. 21 — Auburn
- No. 23 — Mizzou
- No. 27 — Arkansas
- No. 43 — Kentucky
- No. 49 — Vanderbilt
- No. 54 — Mississippi State
At first look, if there’s an SEC team that should be aggrieved by the updated FPI rankings, it’s LSU. The Tigers were jumped by both Ole Miss and South Carolina in this update.
Of course, we’ll get the chance to see all of these teams in action in Week 1, so check back then to see how things change.
