With Week 6 in the books, ESPN Analytics has updated its rankings models. The Football Power Index (FPI) has processed Saturday’s outcomes and updated its top 25 teams.
The FPI’s top 3 teams remain unchanged. Ohio State, Oklahoma and Alabama all picked up wins and did enough to hold onto their spots.
Texas had been No. 4 in the FPI rankings. After the Longhorns’ rivalry loss to Oklahoma, they dropped 2 spots to No. 6.
ESPN Analytics’ predictive measure of team strength has not been as high on Georgia as traditional polls this season. UGA moved up 3 spots to No. 4 following a blowout win over Kentucky.
Ole Miss moved up 2 spots to No. 11 following the Rebels’ win over Arkansas. LSU picked up a thrilling win on the road over a Mizzou team ranked in the polls, but it did not move the needle for the FPI. The Tigers remain at No. 14.
Texas A&M moved up 1 spot to No. 15 despite the loss to Alabama. Tennessee was off in Week 6, but moved up 1 spot to No. 17 in the updated rankings.
