ESPN’s Football Power Index is an interesting ranking system, to say the least.

Apparently, if you play in the Big Ten, it’s a big plus, even if you have a losing record.

After some wild SEC Week 12 action, the FPI was updated, and 5 SEC teams made the top 25. Alabama was No. 1, but there were some strange schools mentioned. As you can see below, 2-3 Wisconsin is a top-10 team somehow and 3-5 Penn State is at No. 25:

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Georgia
  5. Oklahoma
  6. Notre Dame
  7. Wisconsin
  8. Florida
  9. Texas
  10. Texas A&M
  11. Iowa
  12. Iowa State
  13. Indiana
  14. USC
  15. Cincinnati
  16. BYU
  17. Oregon
  18. Auburn
  19. UCF
  20. Oklahoma State
  21. Arizona State
  22. TCU
  23. Northwestern
  24. North Carolina
  25. Penn State

Where is 11-0 Coastal Carolina, you ask? Well, the Chanticleers are all the way down at No. 30. Seems strange.

At least it got Alabama at No. 1 right.
