With two weeks remaining until the official start of College Football, ESPN’S Greg Ostendorf ranked the best weeks of the SEC season Thursday. The list took into account conference games, Top 25 matchups, rivalries and games that will decide the College Football Playoff.
Unsurprisingly, Week 1 was ranked No. 1. This year’s matchups are particularly important with SEC contenders facing tough non-conference matchups. Week 1 games include Alabama-USC, LSU-Wisconsin, Ole Miss-Florida State, Clemson-Auburn, UCLA-Texas A&M and Georgia-North Carolina.
Here’s how the rest of the list shaped up with notable matchups for each respective week:
1. Week 1 (Sept. 1-5)
- Alabama vs. USC, LSU vs. Wisconsin, Ole Miss vs. Florida State, Clemson vs. Auburn, UCLA vs. Texas A&M, Georgia vs. UNC
2. Week 10 (Nov. 5)
- Alabama vs. LSU
3. Week 4 (Sept. 24)
- Florida vs. Tennessee, Georgia vs. Ole Miss, LSU vs. Auburn
4. Week 13 (Nov. 24-26)
- Alabama vs. Auburn, Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State, LSU vs. Texas, Florida vs. Florida State
5. Week 8 (Oct. 8)
- Alabama vs. Arkansas, LSU vs. Florida, Tennessee vs. Texas A&M
6. Week 7 (Oct. 14-15)
- Alabama vs. Tennessee, Ole Miss vs. Arkansas
7. Week 3 (Sept. 17)
- Alabama vs. Ole Miss, Texas A&M vs. Auburn
8. Week 11 (Nov. 12)
- LSU vs. Arkansas, Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M
9. Week 8 (Oct. 22)
- Ole Miss vs. LSU, Texas A&M vs. Alabama, Arkansas vs. Auburn
