It’s been a fun first half of the season, but better things await SEC fans as we approach week No. 8.
With not much longer before the first College Football Playoff rankings are released and just seven more Saturdays until the conference championship game kicks off, many questions still loom for those residing in both the East and West divisions and the tightness of competition should only increase.
But until then, let’s reflect on all the awesomeness from the first seven weeks. ESPN released its SEC midseason awards earlier this morning, and Alabama true freshman quarterback leads the list as the league’s first-half MVP:
SEC MVP: Jalen Hurts, QB, Alabama
Mr. Go Up and Get It: Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
Mid-season Defensive Player of the Year: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
Mid-season Coach of the Year: Nick Saban, Alabama
Best game: Tennessee at Texas A&M
Team Schizophrenic: Arkansas
Lifetime Achievement Award: Mike the Tiger
Awkward Goodbye: Les Miles
Best way to win: Tennessee vs. Georgia
Worst way to lose: Georgia vs. Tennessee
Worst display of adulting: Florida-LSU
Breakout player we kind of expected: Arden Key, DE, LSU
Breakout player no one saw coming: Trayveon Williams, RB, Texas A&M
