It was supposed to be a packed Saturday of SEC football with seven games on the slate and all 14 teams in action. But four postponements due to COVID-19 testing have led to just three games remaining.
However, six conference teams will still be in action. And as he does every week, ESPN’s Bill Connelly has released his SP+ projections for every game in the country, including this trio of SEC matchups. These projections are a computer model using advanced analytics to forecast the results of upcoming games. So far this season, the SP+ picks have been right (against the spread) 54 percent of the time, per Connelly.
This week, the SP+ projections don’t have any surprises taking place in the SEC, with Kentucky, Florida and Ole Miss being the projected winners.
Due to all the postponements, the No. 6 Gators are now the top SEC team in action this week as they host Arkansas on Saturday night. Florida is projected to keep its strong season going with a 22-point win to improve to 5-1.
Here are the projections for all three SEC games this week:
Kentucky 34, Vanderbilt 14
Florida 40, Arkansas 18
Ole Miss 35, South Carolina 26
