Matt Luke won his first ever Egg Bowl as a head coach. Will Joe Moorhead be able to do the same in his first year with the Bulldogs? Yes – according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.

The FPI, a measure of team strength predicting outcomes based on 10,000 simulations, is giving Mississippi State a 77.9 percent chance of beating Ole Miss.

Coming off a 52-6 thumping of Arkansas, Mississippi State is ranked No. 22 in the latest Associated Press Top 25. The Bulldogs are 7-4 on the year, but are No. 9 in the FPI rankings (a score based on how many points a team is above average).

Ole Miss is struggling in Luke’s first season sans the interim title. The Rebels are 5-6 on the year, but an Egg Bowl upset would make it a successful season in the eyes of many Ole Miss fans.

The heated rivalry clash is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET from Oxford and will air on ESPN.
