The SEC East should be a very interesting race in 2020.

On one hand, the Georgia Bulldogs have owned the division the last few years under Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs are recruiting lights out, and the roster is loaded with talent. However, there are concerns on offense without Jake Fromm, without D’Andre Swift and without big-time receivers not named George Pickens, not to mention a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken. That defense, though, should be special.

The Florida Gators are a team that should contend for the division, but Dan Mullen hasn’t proven he can beat Georgia and Smart yet. Will that change in 2020? Florida returns one of the SEC’s top quarterbacks in Kyle Trask.

Elsewhere in the division, Kentucky and Tennessee should certainly make bowl games, while South Carolina, Missouri and Vanderbilt will all be fighting for bowl eligibility.

ESPN recently updated its Football Power Index to show every team’s final record, including the SEC East:

  • Georgia Bulldogs: 10.2 – 2.4
  • Florida Gators: 9.7 – 2.7
  • Kentucky Wildcats: 7.0 – 5.0
  • Tennessee Volunteers: 6.3 – 5.7
  • South Carolina Gamecocks: 5.8 – 6.2
  • Missouri Tigers: 6.0 – 6.0
  • Vanderbilt Commodores: 3.2 – 8.8
