ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Ole Miss vs. Tulane game in Week 4
ESPN’s FPI has released its prediction for Saturday afternoon’s showdown in Oxford between No. 13 Ole Miss and Tulane, as the Rebels briefly step out of conference after back-to-back SEC victories.
Ole Miss is coming off a home win over Arkansas in Week 3, when the Rebels had to play without starting quarterback Austin Simmons. He missed the primetime game with an ankle injury, but Simmons is expected to return as the starter this Saturday in the matchup of 3-0 teams.
The Rebels were OK without Simmons against the Razorbacks, with Trinidad Chambliss stepping in and leading Ole Miss to victory. He had filled in for Simmons at the end of the Week 2 win at Kentucky, and he ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for another in the 41-35 victory over Arkansas. Simmons briefly entered the Arkansas game when Chambliss’s hand was injured, but it looks like Simmons will be back under center to start the game when Tulane and Ole Miss kick it off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
With Simmons expected back and with Ole Miss at home, ESPN’s FPI isn’t giving Tulane much of a shot to pull an upset on Saturday in Oxford, despite the Green Wave carrying a 3-0 record into the Week 4 clash. The FPI is giving the Rebels an 86.8% chance to take care of business at home and move to 4-0 before they head back into SEC play.
