ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Ole Miss’ Week 3 matchup vs. Georgia Tech

It’s been so far, so good for the Ole Miss Rebels as the team sits with a perfectly undefeated record heading into Week 3 of the 2023 college football season. And according to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), that looks to remain the same as Lane Kiffin’s team prepares for a meeting with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The FPI projects every college football game of the season and gives little reason for doubt of an Ole Miss victory once against here, giving the squad a 90.2% chance of winning the game against what some might deem a “lower level” opponent.
That’s reasonable, considering not only the fact the Rebs scored some 73 points in the season-opener against Mercer, but also the reality of the way Georgia Tech has opened the schedule (and who that has been against).
The Yellow Jackets, who had one of the worst offenses in the national under Chip Long last season, have not bounced back the way they have hoped to despite starting off of a high note against a lesser team. They fell to Louisville in Week 1 in a close contest before topping SC State in Week 2.
It will be interesting to watch how things unfold as the Rebels and Yellow Jackets face off at 6:30 p.m. CT in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday night.
