As Tennessee prepares to get back on track Saturday against South Carolina, the Vols have a rocky road ahead with a schedule that includes several tough games.
After the Gamecocks, Tennessee travels to Alabama and Kentucky, and after Southern Miss and at Missouri, it closes the season with home games that won’t be easy against LSU and Vanderbilt.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Tennessee has a better than 50 percent chance of winning just three of the remaining seven games. Against the Gamecocks, Tennessee’s chance of winning is just 48.2 percent, and against the Wildcats, it drops to 42.9 percent.
The Vols’ projected win-loss record is 6.5-5.5, and they have a dismal 0.1 percent chance of winning out.
Coach Butch Jones’ job security is one of the hottest subjects across the SEC, and this outlook doesn’t help matters in that department. Here’s the outlook for the rest of the conference games and the Vols’ chances of winning:
- vs. South Carolina — 48.2 percent
- at Alabama — 2.4 percent
- at Kentucky — 42.9 percent
- at Missouri — 64.3 percent
- vs. LSU — 39.8 percent
- vs. Vanderbilt — 68.1 percent
