ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of every college football game each week.
The model’s predictions have been released for a loaded Week 6 slate, including the conference matchup between No. 15 Clemson and Florida State.
FPI sees Clemson as a huge favorite in the game, giving the team a 79.9% chance to win. This means Florida State has just a 20.1% chance to pull off the upset.
To say things have not gone as well as the Seminoles had hoped this season would be an understatement. The Seminoles had a perfect regular season in 2023 and entered 2024 as the No. 10 team. However, the team started off with 3 straight losses, to Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis.
In Week 4, the Noles finally got in the win column against the Cal Golden Bears. However, the good feelings wouldn’t last long, as the Noles got destroyed in Week 5 by the SMU Mustangs, losing 42-16.
Sitting at 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference, the Noles desperately need a quality win over a team like Clemson to salvage anything out of this season.
Clemson, meanwhile, has been on a role since an ugly Week 1 loss to Georgia.
Since that 34-3 loss in Week 1, the Tigers have dominated Appalachian State, NC State, and Stanford. Considering the struggles of the Noles, the Tigers are now in a prime position to make another appearance in the ACC Championship Game.
If the Tigers win this game, they will improve to 3-0 in ACC play.
The 2 ACC rivals will kick off from Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
