ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game every weekend. The formula has revealed its predictions for the Week 4 slate of games, including a matchup between UCLA and LSU.
Fortunately for LSU fans, FPI thinks the Tigers have a great shot to win in Week 4. The formula gives LSU an 88.0% chance to win, meaning UCLA has just a 12.0% chance.
The Bruins are hoping for a bounce-back performance after getting trounced by the Indiana Hoosiers in their Big Ten debut in Week 3. The Hoosiers ended up with a 42-13 win, giving the Bruins their 1st loss of the season.
The Tigers, meanwhile, are looking for another win over a Power 4 opponent. The Tigers started their season with a loss, falling to USC in Week 1. However, the Tigers have rebounded by picking up wins over Nicholls State and South Carolina since then.
In Week 3, the Tigers earned a hard-fought win over the Gamecocks. The Tigers got an SEC win under their belt and will now look to keep that momentum going in Week 4. The Tigers have 1 more nonconference game after this, against South Alabama in Week 5. The team will then begin a gauntlet of conference games that features opponents like No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 4 Alabama.
LSU and UCLA have only played once in history, and that lone matchup was in 2021. The Bruins got the better of the Tigers, winning 38-27 in Pasadena.
This B1G vs. SEC matchup will kick off from Baton Rouge on Saturday at 3:40 p.m. ET.
