One of the biggest matchups of week 2 of the 2025 college football season will be the matchup between the No. 14-ranked Michigan Wolverines and the No. 18-ranked Oklahoma Sooners, who are set to face off at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

The 2 iconic blue blood programs will meet on the gridiron for just the second time in their long and rich histories, with the first meeting coming 50 years ago during the 1975 season, a meeting that the Sooners won by a final score of 14-6.

The vaunted ESPN Football Power Index has released its initial predictions for how the heavyweight bout will play out, with the model giving the Sooners the slight edge over the Wolverines at a 53.5% chance to win.

If Oklahoma can manage to pull out the win, it will be one of the biggest wins for a program that entered the year looking to get back into contention under fourth-year head coach Brent Venables.

The primetime showdown will also feature two of the most exciting quarterbacks in the nation in the Sooners’ new star transfer, John Mateer, and Michigan’s wunderkind true freshman, Bryce Underwood.

Whoever comes out on top will take a massive step towards a potential College Football Playoff berth, so the stakes are sure to be extremely high.
