ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) always predicts the outcome of each college football game. With 12 weeks already behind us, the model’s predictions for Week 13 have been updated.
When it comes to the Vanderbilt-LSU game, the model sees the Tigers as a big favorite. The Tigers have a 70.7% chance to win the conference matchup, while the Commodores are getting just a 29.3% chance.
It’s been a rough few weeks for the Tigers who have lost 3 straight games after starting 6-1. Week 12 was the low point for the Tigers who lost by 11 points to Florida.

Vanderbilt also enters the game with a 6-4 record and the Commodores had a bye in Week 12. The last time Vanderbilt played, they were unable to deal with South Carolina and lost that game 28-7.
Historically, LSU has owned Vanderbilt. The Commodores have not beaten the Tigers since the 1990 season and have won just 7 of the 32 historical matchups. These SEC foes last played in 2020. The Tigers went up to Nashville and easily defeated the Commodores 41-7.
For the Tigers, stopping quarterback Diego Pavia will be the key to this game. Pavia, who transferred to the Commodores before this season, has been a star for this team. The QB has thrown for 1,843 yards with 15 TDs and 3 INTs. The dual-threat QB has also rushed for 628 yards and 5 TDs.
On offense, the Tigers will need to score more points than they did in Week 12. Against the Gators, the Tigers only managed 16 points even with almost 400 yards of offense.
This SEC matchup will kick off from Tiger Stadium on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET.
