ESPN’s FPI predicts the winner of Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma showdown

It’s going to be a Top-15 matchup in Week 9 as the No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels (6-1) will face off against the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners (6-1) in Norman.

The Rebels are looking to rebound after suffering their first loss of the season, in Athens, where they fell 35-43 to Georgia. Meanwhile, the Sooners secured a solid victory over South Carolina in Week 8, winning 26-7.

As these two teams prepare for their SEC showdown, ESPN’s Football Power Index gives Oklahoma a slight edge with a projected win probability of 55.2%.

Oklahoma quarterback John Matteer played a pivotal role in his team’s success on Saturday, completing 18 of 26 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown without any interceptions. Running back Tory Blaylock contributed significantly with 101 rushing yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Additionally, Isaiah Sategna made an impact with seven receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown against the Gamecocks.

On the other side, Ole Miss Quarterback Trindad Chambliss led the Rebels’ offense against Georgia with an impressive performance, throwing for 263 yards on 19 of 36 passes along with one touchdown and no interceptions. He also added two rushing touchdowns on nine carries totaling 42 yards. Kewan Lacy supported him with two rushing touchdowns from his own efforts of 31 yards on twelve carries, while De’Zhaun Stribling recorded three catches for 96 yards and another touchdown.

Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon in Norman.
