ESPN’s FPI projects each SEC team’s chances to make the College Football Playoff

The 2020 College Football Playoff is still a long way away, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start figuring out which teams could compete for the 4 spots.

In its updated Football Power Index, ESPN also listed each team’s odds to make the Playoff this coming season.

As you can see below, ESPN gives only 6 SEC squads a chance to make the field of 4, led by Alabama at 58.7%:

• Georgia — 25.7%
• LSU — 23.7%
• Auburn — 10.0%
• Florida — 8.1%
• Texas A&M — 2.5%
• Arkansas — 0%
• Kentucky — 0%
• Mizzou — 0%
• Ole Miss — 0%
• Vanderbilt — 0%
• Mississippi State — 0%
• South Carolina — 0%
• Tennessee — 0%

Obviously, crazy things happen in college football. Could Tennessee make a Playoff run? Could Mike Leach or Lane Kiffin lead Mississippi State or Ole Miss to the field of 4? It’s not likely, but anything is possible at this point.
