For the second week in a row, the SEC spotlight is on the Florida Gators facing a Tigers team. The marquee conference matchup of Week 7 is UF at LSU.

The Gators have a two-game winning streak over Tigers teams (counting FCS Towson in Week 5), but ESPN’s Football Power Index predicts that streak will come to an end in Death Valley. LSU has a 76 percent chance to win on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, according to the updated FPI.

The FPI’s rankings were updated after the Week 6 action. While LSU moved up from No. 6 to No. 5 after a 42-6 win over Utah State, Florida remained at No. 12 following the 24-13 home win over Auburn.

The good news for the Gators? The FPI also favored Auburn in Week 6.

ESPN’s FPI definition below:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.
