The Auburn Tigers fell to 3-1 on the season with their 24-17 loss at No. 11 Oklahoma in Week 4. Fans know the Tigers could have played better in Norman, but also know the officials didn’t help (and possibly actively hurt) their cause. Nonetheless, Hugh Freeze and Co. have more wins than losses through 4 games. Last year, that wasn’t the case.

ESPN’s Football Power Index currently gives Auburn an 11.2% chance of making the College Football Playoff. Ironically, this reflects their 11th-place standing in that category among SEC teams. The Tigers’ upcoming schedule — featuring 5 ranked foes in their last 8 games — will be tough to navigate. In fact, FPI sees Auburn losing every single one of those ranked matchups.

Here are the updated win probabilities:

  • Sept. 27 at No. 9 Texas A&M – 31.6%
  • Oct. 11 vs. No. 5 Georgia – 34.8%
  • Oct. 18 vs. No. 20 Missouri – 48.4%
  • Oct. 25at Arkansas – 45.5%
  • Nov. 1 vs, Kentucky – 74.8%
  • Nov. 8 at No. 18 Vanderbilt – 35.6%
  • Nov. 22 vs. Mercer – 98.4%
  • Nov. 29 vs. No. 17 Alabama – 30.2%

The outlook FPI provides may look bleak, but anything can happen on any given Saturday, particularly on the Plains at Jordan-Hare. Auburn will kick off with Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (ESPN).
