Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa left the Crimson Tide’s game against Tennessee with an ankle injury and also missed Saturday’s game against Arkansas.
The Tide are off this week, and are hoping Tagovailoa can return to face LSU on Nov. 9. Will he be back and healthy for that game?
On ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. explained how the ankle injury may hurt Tagovailoa’s NFL Draft stock (via 247Sports):
“It obviously clouds it a bit,” Kiper said of the injury. “You want to see him come back hopefully against LSU coming up in a couple weeks against that talent-laden Bayou Bengal defense. But up until this point, we know what he is. He’s a precise, accurate passer, one of the most precise passers to come out in recent memory. But he’s not 6-3, he doesn’t have the howitzer for arm and he has had those back-to-back ankle injuries.”
NFL scouts will want to make their own evaluations of Tagovailoa’s ankles during the pre-draft process, but his talent may be too great to pass up.
We’re sure to hear a lot more about Tagovailoa’s injury over the next few months.
