ESPN pundit Paul Finebaum has made a career of observing and judging Alabama football, and what he saw with the Crimson Tide’s 29-22 comeback victory at South Carolina ranks among the more notable comebacks given the circumstance and venue.

Alabama engineered its biggest 4th-quarter comeback since 2021 by overcoming the Gamecocks, who led 22-14 with less 10 minutes to play – which included an innovative 2-point conversion, forcing a LaNorris Sellers fumble and then a Germie Bernard 25-yard touchdown run.

“The shot of all the South Carolina students coming down to march on the field and take the goalposts down will never get out of Shane Beamer’s memory bank. That was fantastic,” Finebaum said Sunday on The Matt Barrie Show. “It was just stunning to watch. The poise that (Alabama) had. (Offensive coordinator) Ryan Grubb dialing up home run after home run in critical moments of the game – which was missing last year when Alabama couldn’t get out of its way.”

Finebaum also agreed with Barrie, who covered South Carolina football before ESPN, about how difficult playing South Carolina in Columbia can be.

“Wiliams-Brice when the sun goes down is difficult, and for Alabama to pull that off was remarkable,” Finebaum said.

Alabama is off in Week 10 and will return to action in Week 11 against LSU.
