ESPN’s Seth Greenberg gave his thoughts on the potential of Texas A&M winning a national title during Saturday’s College GameDay show from Tuscaloosa.
“Style makes fights, and these guys are a problem in a quick turnaround,” Greenberg said. “Style of play, they can make a deep run and get to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.”
The Aggies may be getting hot at just the right time, too. After losing back-to-back games against Alabama and Kentucky, they have won 7 of their last 8, including a 5-game win streak. They defeated Arkansas 69-61 on Saturday, led by Wade Taylor IV’s 18 points.
Taylor, naturally, will be a key figure in any success A&M has in the tournament, Greenberg said.
“The second they advance to the NCAA Tournament, they’re a tough preparation,” he said. “. “They turn you over, they get to the offensive glass, they’ve got a closer in Wade Taylor who can make plays at the end of games.”
The Aggies have never won a national championship — much less made a Final Four. They’ve made 6 appearances in the Sweet 16 but failed to advance to the Elite Eight on all 6 occasions. With Taylor leading the way, Aggie fans will hope that this time is different.
At FanDuel, Texas A&M is +600 to advance to the Final Four this season. Bart Torvik gives the Aggies a 10.5% chance to make the Final Four.
