The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry has finally come back around on the schedule in Week 7, with the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs set to travel out to the plains to take on the Auburn Tigers for a pivotal mid-season tilt under the lights of Jordan-Hare Stadium.
These 2 iconic SEC squads share a long and rich history, and things tend to get a bit wonky any time the Dawgs hit the road to play the Tigers for a night game.
ESPN analyst Bill Connelly dropped his SP+ projection for the rivalry renewal earlier in the week, and his model is predicting what looks like another instant classic between these 2 hated foes.
The SP+ is a predictive model that takes a wide number of stats and historical trends, and uses them to craft power rankings for ESPN and project the outcome of any given game from week to week.
When it comes to this Saturday’s clash between Georgia and Auburn, the SP+ is projecting a very tight affair, with Kirby Smart and the Dawgs edging out Hugh Freeze and the Tigers by a final score of 26-21.
Georgia is currently a -3.5 point favorite according to oddsmakers, which means that Vegas is also predicting this to be a very tight game as well.
Crazy things tend to happen when Auburn plays a rival under the lights at home, so it will be very interesting to see how this one ends up shaking out as the Dawgs look to extend their winning streak against Auburn to 9 games on Saturday night.
