The 2025 regular season is about to wrap up, which means it’s time for Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Last year, Georgia and Georgia Tech delivered an 8-overtime thriller in Athens that resulted in a 44-42 UGA victory. This year’s game between the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets is being played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Kirby Smart‘s Georgia Bulldogs enter the game positioned to make the College Football Playoff again. UGA is 10-1 and ranked No. 4 in the CFP selection committee rankings. Win, and the Bulldogs would likely earn a top-4 seed with or without a trip to the SEC Championship Game. Even with a loss, the Bulldogs would almost certainly still be in the top 12.
Georgia Tech started the season 8-0, but the Yellow Jackets have seen their CFP hopes slip away, losing 2 of the last 3 games. Brent Key’s team fell to No. 23 in the committee rankings after the latest loss to Pitt.
Ahead of the rivalry showdown on Black Friday, ESPN’s Bill Connelly shared his SP+ projection for the game. SP+, which Connelly defines as a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency, is projecting Georgia to beat Georgia Tech by a score of 36-23.
SP+ score projections are closely followed by sports bettors. In the case of this game, the current line at BetMGM has Georgia favored by 14 points and the game’s over/under at 59.5 total points. SP+ is narrowly projecting a Georgia Tech cover and the under to hit. The margins of just 1 point on the spread and half a point on the over/under might be too close for comfort, though, for many prospective bettors.
