ESPN’s Bill Connelly has released his SP+picks for Week 12, using his patented formula to unveil not just which teams could win, but what the final score could be. SP+, according to Connelly, is ” a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency.” He developed the system in 2008, eventually ending up with ESPN, where they use it on a weekly basis to help project outcomes of games.

However, as he does every week when he releases his updated rankings, Connelly notes that SP+ “is not a résumé ranking that gives credit for big wins or particularly brave scheduling,” but “simply a measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football”.

One interesting note about the SP+ score predictions: they have ended up 52% against the spread this year after last week’s games.

Here is the projected score of each SEC game this weekend, along with each team’s SP+ ranking:

  • Alabama 43, Kentucky 15
  • Florida 47, Vanderbilt 12
  • Georgia 35, Mississippi State 13
  • Auburn 32, Tennessee 19
  • South Carolina 27, Missouri 26
  • LSU 31, Arkansas 28
