ESPN has released its updated Football Power Index for college football after Week 3, and Alabama comes in at No. 4 on the list.
Alabama is the top SEC team in the FPI, and the Crimson Tide are ranked behind No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Ohio State, and No. 3 Clemson.
The rankings of Oklahoma and Clemson are somewhat understandable. Oklahoma was impressive in a 31-16 victory over OSU in Week 2, and Clemson knocked off Auburn before dismantling Louisville and reigning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson on the road.
The one question mark of the top four is OSU. The Buckeyes have wins over Indiana and Army, but their lone appearance in a big game was their loss to the Sooners in Week 2.
Mississippi State at No. 10 joined Alabama as the only other SEC team in the top 10 on ESPN’s FPI. The Bulldogs, however, do not have a great outlook moving forward with just a 2.7% chance to win out.
Auburn (No. 16), Georgia (No. 17), LSU, (No. 19), and Florida (No. 24) also made the top 25.
26. Tennessee
32. South Carolina
40. Texas A&M
41. Vanderbilt
42. Kentucky
51. Ole Miss
53. Arkansas
72. Missouri
