ETSU savagely trolls Vanderbilt after upset victory in Nashville

The Clark Lea era at Vanderbilt got off to an awful start on Saturday.

The Commodores were matched up against in-state FCS team ETSU, a team they beat 38-0 at Vanderbilt Stadium in 2019. Coincidentally, it was also the Commodores’ most recent victory as they fell to Tennessee to close the season before going 0-9 in 2020.

This one belonged to the Buccaneers, though, as they dropped the Commodores 23-3. It was one of 6 wins by FCS teams over FBS opponents.

And ETSU naturally had some fun after the win, trolling Vanderbilt well after the game ended. Here’s a tweet the program’s Twitter account posted on Sunday morning mocking the SEC’s long-time “It Just Means More” slogan:

Vandy fans will hope that this isn’t a sign of what’s to come for their football program in 2021. In Lea’s defense, he’ll need some time if he wants to turn things around in Nashville, but this was the worst possible result to begin his head coaching tenure.
