Yeah, you read that headline right.
Glenda Dawson (Pearland, Texas) senior kicker Claire Jeffress just did something we’re not sure that has ever been done before. She was crowned the homecoming queen a week before kicking the game-winning field goal Friday night.
With the score tied late, Jeffress drilled the 38-yard field goal to give her team a 38-35 win over Pearland. In fact, the field goal helped lift Dawson to a 5-1 record.
“I just wanted to do what I’ve always done and not think of it as any big deal,” said Jeffress of her game-deciding kick (via Pearland Journal). “My team had faith in me, and they were going to block for me, and the snap and the hold were going to be good, so I just had to do my job.”
Two weeks ago, her PAT helped give Dawson the 14-13 win, too. She’s just clutch!
