Texas A&M was on the right track in Week 1. The Aggies picked up a 52-10 win over New Mexico on Saturday.
Conner Weigman’s first start went according to plan. Weigman accounted for 236 yards passing with 5 touchdowns.
Jimbo Fisher was quick to praise his team after how they played. The Texas A&M head coach thought his team was very efficient and had no self-inflicted wounds.
This was true as Texas A&M finished the game without turning the ball over.
There was a change on Fisher’s staff during the offseason at offensive coordinator. Bobby Petrino called the offense for the first time at Texas A&M, and Fisher had a great time working with the Aggies play caller.
Sadly there was some loss for Texas A&M this offseason as longtime assistant Terry Price passed away. Fisher was asked about Price and joked that the former assistant was probably “hollering up there all night” watching the Aggies.
Outside of those comments, Fisher complimented the play of Weigman and Tauren York.
Here’s everything Fisher said after the victory:
Jimbo Fisher: “Very proud of our guys. Good opening win of the season.”
“I thought we were very efficient in the first half. Didn’t have any self-inflicted wounds.”

Jimbo Fisher: “We had time to throw the football. The maturity up front is showing.”
“(Conner Weigman) had a pocket… He was excellent.”

Jimbo Fisher on Tauren York: “Man, how about him making all the calls and doing everything as a true freshman. Two freshman playing linebacker and tackle, that’s two pretty good positions to be starting in the SEC.”
