The Atlanta Falcons will be without the services of defensive end Marlon Davidson as they host the Detroit Lions at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday.
The team announced on Thursday that Davidson had been placed on the COVID-19/reserve list. Davidson didn’t play in the Falcons’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 19 due to a non-COVID-related illness.
Davidson, who is in his 2nd season, has played in 10 games and recorded 19 tackles and a sack in 2021. He has also intercepted a pass, which was returned for a touchdown. As a rookie in 2020, he only managed to play in 3 games while making 8 stops, while spending time on the reserve/COVID list that year, too.
The Falcons’ 2nd round pick in 2020 was an All-SEC 1st-team selection in 2019 after making 11.5 tackles for a loss and recording 6.5 sacks as a senior with the Tigers. So far, though, he’s not made quite the same impact at the professional level, with his latest addition to the reserve/COVID list marking another setback in his young NFL career.
