Since he was taken in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, former LSU LB Deion Jones has been outstanding for the Atlanta Falcons.

In two years, he has six interceptions (two of which were returned for touchdowns) and 166 tackles and is gearing up for another big year in 2018.

Recently, Falcons LB coach Jeff Ulbrich spoke with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, saying he thinks Jones’s skills — particularly in coverage — are elite:

“He’s fulfilled the vision that I think most the people in this organization had for him, but (after) saying that, he’s no way near being a finished product. He’s got work to do. He knows it and he’s willing to do it. There is some stuff that he does in coverage that is freaky and uncommon, that’s best-in-the-league type stuff, but there is also stuff from a fundamental standpoint against the run that he needs to improve on. He understands that, he knows that and is working on it every day.”

Jones was named to the Pro Bowl last season, and many more could be in his future if he continues to play well.

Ulbrich likes what he’s seeing from the young linebacker, so the best may still be to come for the former LSU standout.
