Family Drama: Father, brother of Kansas State QB Avery Johnson reportedly fight each other after game in Ireland
Family drama took over on a forgettable Saturday in Ireland for Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson.
After No. 17 Kansas State fell to No. 22 Iowa State in a 24-21 loss that kicked off the 2025 college football season, things got crazy for the Johnson family. According to a report from 247Sports’ Tim Fitzgerald, who covers Kansas State, there was a postgame confrontation at Aviva Stadium in Dublin that involved Johnson’s dad, Mark Johnson, and another man who was believed to be Johnson’s older brother.
According to witnesses at the scene, the conflict between Avery Johnson’s dad and older brother turned physical, and the 2 of them fought. A source confirmed to Fitzgerald that no arrests were made from the incident.

Johnson threw for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he ran for a TD, but all anyone was talking about afterward was something that wasn’t a part of the game.
The reported fight between family members took over the topic of conversation on social media in a game that was supposed to celebrate the start of the new season.
