Family of UCF QB McKenzie Milton posts recovery update following devastating knee injury
UCF had to battle through the AAC Championship Game without its leader on the sideline.
But quarterback McKenzie Milton will be at the Knights’ bowl game.
That’s according to a tweet from Milton’s mother Teresa, who provided an update on the junior’s recovery process Thursday. Milton was hospitalized for about a week after suffering a horrific knee injury during UCF’s regular-season finale on Nov. 23, but he appears to be progressing and expects to attend the Knights’ Fiesta Bowl showdown against LSU on New Year’s Day.
Good Morning Knight Nation! Wanted to thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts! Yesterday KZ has a ultra sound and it was music to our hearts ! Today a surgery to get him more comfortable! He will be at the Fiesta Bowl to cheer his team mates on to Victory! Arizona bound

Milton required emergency surgery immediately after sustaining the injury against USF, and he underwent several more procedures in the following week. His mother revealed that he’s having another surgery Thursday, though it’s encouraging to hear this one is simply “to get him more comfortable.”
Milton watched from home as UCF beat Memphis in the ACC title game, but the Knights will certainly appreciate having Milton back on the sideline as they try to complete their second straight undefeated season. No. 8 UCF faces No. 11 LSU at 1 p.m. ET on Jan. 1 in Glendale, Arizona.
