Dan Lanning was part of ESPN’s coverage of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game between Michigan and Washington in Houston on Monday.

The Oregon head coach has been terrific since taking the reins in Eugene after 3 seasons at Georgia as one of the nation’s top defensive coordinators. Through 2 seasons, he is 22-5, with the Ducks ending the 2023 season as Fiesta Bowl champions against Liberty.

That said, none of those 22 wins have been over Washington. Kalen DeBoer’s team defeated the Ducks 37-34 in Eugene in 2022 and took both meetings between the 2 programs in 2023: a 36-33 decision in Seattle on Oct. 14 and by a 34-31 margin in the Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas. That 2nd Ducks loss was the only thing that stood between them and a Playoff spot.

On Monday, Lanning was with the College GameDay crew prior to kickoff then joined Rece Davis and Joey Galloway during the halftime show to give his thoughts on the game. Check out some of the reaction he received on social media:
