Randy Sanders announced Monday that he was stepping down as the head football coach at East Tennessee State and that he would be retiring.
The 56-year-old Tennessee native was 26-17 in 4 seasons with the school, including an impressive 11-2 mark in 2021.

Sanders won 2 Southern Conference titles with the Buccaneers and was twice named SoCon Coach of the Year.
Before taking over at East Tennessee State, Sanders had been on Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Florida State from 2013-17 as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Additionally, he spent 17 seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee and 7 at Kentucky.
