On Saturday night, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza was named the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner after guiding Indiana to an undefeated season and a B1G Championship win against Ohio State.

The former California quarterback transferred in last offseason and has helped take Indiana to the top of the college football world. He won the award over Diego Pavia, Jeremiah Love and Julian Sayin.

After being announced as the winner, Mendoza delivered an emotional and powerful speech. Fans and media from across college football praised Mendoza for the speech.

Here’s the best of that reaction:

Mendoza throughout the season showed the ability to handle any postgame interview, and the speech he gave on Saturday night was just another one for the books.

On the year, he threw for 2,980 yards, 33 touchdowns and six interceptions. In the biggest moments of the season against Penn State and Ohio State, Mendoza delivered big time throws to help the team remain undefeated.

For the Hoosiers, they hope their quarterback winning the Heisman Trophy is just the start of an incredible next month. The Hoosiers are the No. 1 seed in the CFP, and will take on the winner of the Oklahoma and Alabama in a quarterfinal game at the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
