The few remaining LSU fans still in Tiger Stadium by the time Texas A&M dispatched the Tigers 49-25 on Saturday night weren’t shy in making their opinion known about coach Brian Kelly.
That’s audible “Fire Kelly” chants from the LSU faithful, as the Tigers fell to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the SEC with the home loss – a setback that saw the Aggies score 35 straight points to pull away for their 8th straight win.
Texas A&M’s victory was its first at LSU as a member of the SEC and also marked the first time the 3rd-ranked Aggies got to 8-0 since 1992.
“They tried to put a quote up there that I said that Death Valley was underwhelming,” Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed said to reporters after the game. “And shoot, I guess it was. They didn’t do much to me.”
LSU embarked on the 2025 season with national championship aspirations but instead tasted defeat for the 3rd time in 4 games. The SEC hasn’t been particularly kind to Kelly’s Tigers, either, as LSU is 4-5 in its past 9 SEC games.
“Our fans are disappointed like any fan base would be,” said Kelly, who turned 64 on Saturday. “It stops with the head coach, so that responsibility falls with me.”
