Five-star QB recruit not affected by recent news, stands by commitment to Aggies
The sky seemed like it was falling on College Station on Wednesday, but the future may not be so bleak.
Tate Martell, Texas A&M’s prized five-star QB recruit for 2017, stood by his commitment to the Aggies with a lengthy message on Twitter. In the post, he assures the fans that he’s 100 percent committed to the school and showed strong support for coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, while point out what makes the program stand out to him.
It was reported on Wednesday that true freshman QB Kyler Murray could follow former starter Kyle Allen out the door and transfer from Texas A&M, leaving the Aggies thin at the position.
However, Sumlin addressed the media after the team’s practice on Wednesday, saying he expects Murray to be the team’s starter in the Music City Bowl against Louisville on Dec. 30.
Martell is 247Sports.com’s No.1 dual-threat quarterback for the Class of 2017 out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, committed to the Aggies in August over 17 other Alabama, Michigan and USC.
