Former Mississippi State star defender Fletcher Cox is now an NFL champion, as his Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
Cox has been a big part of the Eagles’ success, solidifying the interior defensive line and making it hard for opposing quarterbacks to get comfortable in the pocket.
On Friday, Cox spoke at the Mississippi state capitol, crediting Mississippi State for preparing him for NFL success (via McCall.com):
“The coaches at Mississippi State, those guys say, `Hey, not only do we want you to be a great football player, but we want you to be a great young man,“’ Cox said. “Things like that helped me throughout my career.”
Cox had 5.5 sacks and recovered two fumbles, scoring a touchdown on one recovery this season.
He’ll be an important part of the Philly defense through 2022, having signed a big contract a couple of years ago.
